Maybe Baby
Costumes for the play Maybe Baby
A woman who gives birth to her first child in Switzerland today is on average 30.7 years old. But how are women supposed to find their way between child and tenuous career, between poly-cluster and nuclear family, between bonding hormones and hormonal spirals, between last minute panic and goal-shot panic? And why is there a recent ad featuring laughing babies in front of every YouTube video? For Maybe Baby, Sarah Verny has gathered nine women around to dig into the depths of our millennial psyche and answer the children question once and for all. I was one of them and designed costumes for the play. The idea was to highlight each individual through gadgets that spoke to their character, reaching from a business apron hybrid to a dress with a fetus printed all over it or a giant hole in a sweater.
